Dharamsala & The Dalai Lama


On June 9th 2010 Dee Boyle & Susan Leadley presented a talk with
photographs about their recent trip to Dharamsala,
Northern India, home of The Dalai Lama
and thousands of Tibetan exiles

Their trip included attending teachings by the Dalai Lama and visiting many places of interest including Buddhist temples, monasteries, Tibetan medical centres and the Tibetan Children’s Village.

All funds raised at this event were donated to the Reception Centre in McLeod Ganj, Dharamsala that helps all newly arrived Tibetan refugees

On Thursday June 3rd several York Amnesty members joined the Kirkbymoorside group who played host to Colm O Chuanachan, from Amnesty's International Secretariat, as he spoke about the Demand Dignity Campaign.

Scores of shoppers joined us in our celebration of Aung San Suu Kyi's 65th birthday on 19th June in Parliament street. Passers-by enjoyed a cupcake with us and signed a giant birthday card to pay tribute to this iconic woman who has spent 14 of the last 20 years under house arrest in Burma
