On 24 April 2017 the Right Honourable the Lord Mayor of York, Councillor Dave Taylor, signed a declaration making York the United Kingdom's first Human Rights City.

Heidi Chan from the Centre for Applied Human Rights at the University of York will talk about York's being a Human Rights City when she is the guest speaker at our monthly meeting this month at the usual venue - the Friends Meeting House, Friargate, York YO1 9RL. It takes place on Tuesday 12 September, starts at 7 p.m. with Heidi's talk followed by questions and answers and then continues (from 8 p.m.) with our group's regular business. All are welcome to attend and, if they like, to leave after Heidi's talk.
