Messages written on ribbons by members of the public at our stall at York Pride 2019

On Saturday 8 June we attended York Pride, for the sixth year in a row. At our stall, members of the public wrote supportive messages on 93 ribbons.

Messages encouraging LGBTI people and their allies in Turkey

Afterwards, we sent the ribbons to Turkey, for LGBTI people there and their allies to wear as bracelets at Istanbul Pride.

On Sunday 30 June, hundreds of people came together peacefully for Istanbul Pride, despite it being banned - but police used tear gas and plastic bullets to disperse the crowd.

Circle Dancing in St Sampson's Square

On Sunday 14 July we will have a stall in St Sampson's Square (outside Browns department store) from 10.30 am to 2.00 pm. There will be a performance of women's circle dancing, led by Karen Michaelsen, from 12.30 pm for about half an hour. Our stall will highlight the plight of Azza Soliman.

Our Monthly Meeting in July

Our monthly meeting this month takes place on Tuesday 9 July at the usual venue - York Friends Meeting House, Friargate, York YO1 9RL. We do not have a guest speaker so the meeting starts at 7.30 pm. We finish by 9.00 pm at the latest. As always, everyone is welcome to attend.
